The Road to Emmaus

The characteristic of Jesus that we reflect on today is eagerness to serve. Even in death, Jesus is eager to serve us. He wants the disciples on the Road to Emmaus to recognize Him. He walks with them, on and on, to reveal how He is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.
And when they still do not understand, He stays with them to reveal Himself in the breaking of the Bread. Jesus never ceases to serve. He serves because He loves us. He serves because He wants us to come to Him and have a relationship with Him. He serves because He wants to spend eternity with us. There is no one who understands us better, maybe better than we do ourselves. There is no one who serves with a more pure motive, love. Love of you.

Mission

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
