Feast Day of The Baptism of the Lord
Luke 3:15-16, 21-22In today’s gospel we have two validations of Jesus as the Messiah. First, John the Baptist tells his followers that one mightier than him is to come. And this mighty one will baptize with the holy Spirit. Following this, Jesus is baptized and praying and the heavens open, the Holy Spirit descends, and we hear the infamous words of Our Father in Heaven say, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Quite a powerful gospel reading for today. Reflect on it in wonder and awe.
