Blesssed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness
Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18Today’s gospel pairs perfectly with our beatitude for Wednesday: Blessed Are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Jesus speaks to us today about our countenance when doing good deeds. We should not do good deeds to receive praise and recognition. We should do good deeds because they are good. We often hunger for righteousness. But we can control no one but ourselves. And that is exactly our job: control yourself, do good—yourself. Do not concern yourself with the deeds of others. Do not concern yourself with how other people percieve you. Do what is right and keep your eyes on the Lord. Compare yourself to the Lord. You will always come out below Him, but it will give you a standard to which to aim.
