The Fifth Sunday of Lent
John 12:20-33In today’s gospel we have several well known Scripture phrases: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” And “Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.” These profound statements refer not only to Jesus, but to the spiritual lives we are called to live when we follow Him. Jesus died for our sins. But we are also called to sacrifice for others. We are called to be Jesus in this world.
