Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 14:22-33The gospel story today shows us the importance of prayer. After Jesus had a busy day of work, curing the sick and feeding over 5000, He spent the night in prayer. It is a lesson to us that our strength in following the Lord comes from our relationship with Him in prayer. We can only expect to be true imitators of Christ and do His work if we ourselves put time into our prayer life.
And then the gospel tells the story of Jesus walking on water and Peter’s desire to do the same. Aren’t we all like Peter? I know I am. I would want to walk on water also. But I would surely be afraid. And I would beg Jesus to save me.
Spend time with the Lord in prayer. Talk to Him. Tell him your joys and your fears.
Jesus loves YOU. He wants to be with you.
