Today’s Reading

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Matthew 11: 25-30

What an example we have from Jesus today! The passage begins, "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth..."
This should spur us on to give praise and thanks for the big and little things of our life. If Jesus did it, we should surely take the time to do it!
The passage continues and evolves into coming to the Lord when we are burdened, to find comfort and rest. Take a few moments today to praise and thank God for your blessings. And then just rest in the Lord.

Mission

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
