The Fourth of July
Independence DayIn today's gospel, the reading ends with the Apostles' question, "What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?"
Today is July 4th, Independence Day for the United States. This country was founded on the principles of freedom of religion and belief in God.
The Apostles' question seems quite apporopriate for us in this year of 2023. What sort of man is this, upon whom our country was founded? Why did our forefathers found this country on faith? What was religious freedom so important?
Take a moment to reflect on the properity of the United States? Could it have anything to do with the Faith of our Fathers? Does the increase in crime, violence and decreased peace have anything to do with our current lack of God in our lives?
Let's ponder on the man who even the winds and the sea obey. Do we owe Him our attention today, not to mention thanks and praise?
God Bless America!
