Fifth Sunday of Lent
John 11: 1-45As we near the Feast of Palm Sunday and Holy Week, we hear of the death of Lazarus. It is today's gospel reading.
Because this event happened toward the end of the public ministry of Jesus, it brings to mind, we are approaching the death of Our Lord. Jesus knew Lazarus would die. He purposely waited until the death of Lazarus to go to his home so that Jesus could raise Lazarus from the dead.
"So then Jesus said to them clearly, “Lazarus has died. And I am glad for you that I was not there, that you may believe. Let us go to him.”
Are there times in our lives when prayer is not answered in the way we want? Does God have a higher purpose? May we trust in God today that His Will is the perfect Way. After all, Jesus loves you so much He gave His life for you.
