Second Sunday in Ordinary TimeJohn 1:35-42
In today’s reading, we are introduced to Jesus through John the Baptist. John calls Him the “Lamb of God.” Immediately two of John’s disciples follow Jesus. They seem to know the significance of John’s introduction. Andrew is one of those disciples. Before anything, he goes to get Simon, his brother, to follow the Lord. Jesus invites them to come and see where He is staying and He renames Simon, to be called, Cephas, translated Peter.
This reading is full of contemplations. John knows Jesus and HIs importance. The disciples understand the meaning of “Lamb of God.” And Peter is chosen as the “Rock” from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry.
