How would it feel to be a close friend of Jesus? To have lived when He did and have entertained Him in your home? The familiarity of Martha and Mary with Jesus is beautiful. "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." And the compassion Jesus had for all of them. Jesus wept when He witnessed the sorrow of Mary. And He called forth Lazarus from the tomb.
We too can have Jesus as our friend. Take time today to be wih your friend.
Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, pray for us.

We could find no better way to describe the purpose of Daily Beatitude than the Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1:

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

We are called to live in beatitude. This contemplation is one designed to help us incorporate the beatitudes into our day. This work is not one of absolutes. It is just one way to incorporate the countenance of Jesus into each day. It is not the only way. View our rationale.
